365 and 1/4 days of MKandSandslobness

I know between the two of us, he is the poet. But I'll try okay. :)

One year ago was the beginning of forever
Nothing in this world, I learned, we cannot weather.
Even 9543 miles nor days apart could not tear us
Years only enrich the love that we share.
Each and every moment of my waking hour
And as my heart beats, I always go about
Reminiscing and hoping for us to soon be together.

I'm a huge fan of Ala Paredes, her blog, and her artwork. And it just happens I could really relate to this too. I wish I could have the full version of this but I think she's particular about copyright stuff (of course she should be), so I only managed to get this without the watermark. If it's too small, the words read "What does it all mean without you?". I think that's her, looking over Sydney, where her family just migrated. For Valentine's Day, she sent a snail mail to the Philippines.

Right now my laptop sits on the same table where my house mate has hers, and she's talking to the other half of their long-distance love affair. Bits and pieces of petty fights, I-miss-you's, and other ingredients that make up a long-distance love chat cannot escape my ears. It'll only be 2 weeks of waiting left, and they will be together. I wish I could say the same thing about me.

But I know it has to be this way for now. I've finally learned to summon that elusive inner peace and surrendered this matter to God, because the more I struggle to have my own way, the deeper I get sucked into the pool of misery I'd almost been drowning in. It's time to trust again, and to keep on believing, because God does make all things beautiful in His time.

Bikoy, I know I tell you every day, but I'll tell you again. I love you. I first loved you the day I told myself I didn't. But love works in mysterious ways, and I am very grateful I can freely tell myself and the rest of the world that I love you, John Everett Fisher. I love you now, and I will always love you until my earthly body ceases to be. I will still love you even after that, because surely a love this strong can find a way how.

Happy first year anniversary mahal ko, and I know we will have a gazillion more to come. :)

9 months and counting!!!

Happy 9th monthsary MK!!!:)

Well this is my first successful attempt at using iMovie. Sorry I couldn't compress it any better than this, it keeps on dying out on me when I try to go for the one with no loss of quality.

I'll be better next time! :)

John Fisher

What would I do without you, John, especially during these trying times...

Thank you for being with me here at the study room as I'm doing my interim report for my final year project which I'm desperately trying not to hate, and for all those times like this.

Thank you for being with me during what would have been the most miserable Christmas or school holiday ever had you not been with me.

Thank you for saying everything will be alright, and for making me realize I am indeed fortunate to have something important to wake up to everyday (ie, FYP).

And thank you for holding my hand every time before we eat while saying grace =).

Amusing random conversation:

Me: Hey, I'm just curious, how does it feel to have 'fish' in your last name? Do you always associate yourself with fish, like if somebody asks you 'If you were an animal, what would you be?'

John: *looking surprised, amused, and giving me the 'what-the' look * Hmm nobody's ever asked me that before. Erm, I don't even like fish that much. It feels like...nothing. It just feels like a last name. Well how do you feel having 'Espinosa' as your last name?

Me: Nothing. There's no common English word that's dominant within my last name.

*after a while*

John: Well, someday you're gonna find out how it feels to have 'Fisher' as your last name, and you're gonna have to answer that question yourself.

Me: *grins*

My precious

The purple dress (there's another red one and a snowglobe!) John gave me for Christmas and my new short hair.

He gave me 'Dear John' by Nicholas Sparks too. =) Plus a red rose. Incidentally our gifts to each other include a 'Dear John' since I gave him a card with a 'Dear John' in it. Duh.

My boyfriend's a gangsta with a tattoo.

I love you John.

:)

I can't believe how a person who's 9548 miles from me can also be the closest person to me. Soon the irony of it will subside, because ten days from now you will be with me, and bebeside me. Thank you for making me happy every day even though there are oceans and mountains between us.

Our situation has made me come to associate the Big Bang Theory not so much anymore with the beginning of the universe, but with your astronomical phone bills. There is nothing convenient about having a long-distance relationship, and I really appreciate your efforts to make this work. Thank you for not letting me spend my first Christmas away from my family all alone. I admit I doubted when you first said you were coming for me, but I've seen how you turned mere words to reality. Thank you for your hard work, for your determination, for making things happen, and for being true to your word. I know it wasn't easy, and most of the time it actually sucked, but you never gave up because you made a promise. I admire your character more than your good looks (and good looks is a severe understatement by the way).

I love you John! Welcome to Singapore (sooooon).

Facebook and happy me

Just came from class. Mondays and Tuesdays I have night classes. There are many things I dreaded for today (can I please whine one more time that I HATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING I HATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING I HATE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING..ooops that's three times).

Anyway, I am not supposed to blog, but I cannot contain the happiness I felt when I checked my Facebook and saw John's mom's message (yeah she has an account, so cool). It was heartwarming and I am really so so very happy right now. John's sister Phoebe messaged me twice too. =)

It means a lot to me when my boyfriend's family know of my existence, and even more so when they are actually warm and welcoming towards me. I'm really looking forward to meeting them someday.

Like, next year! Haha!

MK!!! You make me feel very special. Sometimes I still can't believe that despite the oceans and mountains and miles and billions of people between us, our paths still crossed and our lives are never the same. Maybe we were made for each other. :)

Happy 4th.=)

Our very first picture together, starring my chucks and your big brown hiking shoes.

It was just
Last summer when I met you.
Our first encounter is something I find
Very amusing,
Especially because
You first saw me when I was
Obviously tired from a long day's work, and totally
Unglamorous.
Just when I thought it was unfortunate that a very cute guy would see me like that, it was
Out of this world that you even asked what I'll be doing after work. My
Heart leaped when I saw you the
Next day at the Deli when I was putting salads inside the fridge, and
Everyday after that. You were
Very, very sweet
Extremely persistent (haha), and
Really caring, loving, understanding, and all that. The way you love me is the
Epitome of how I've always wanted to be loved, and I hope
That's how you feel about me
Too. I hope what we have right now would be
Forever.
In my every waking moment, thoughts of you abound; and
Sweet dreams of you fill my nights.
How I wish I could be with you right now, and
Every single day...but for now, memories of you are worth
Reminiscing.

The Notebook

I love the novel from which this movie was based, and the movie certainly didn't disappoint.
I don't know of anyone who watched this movie and didn't like it.

I already found my Noah.

Happy MK and Sandslob Day

Today is a very special day. :)

When I was about to leave SELF this morning, I got a phone call from someone inquiring whether I'm in PGP because he's delivering some flowers for me. His statement really caught me offguard, and impulsively I exclaimed "REALLY?". Then he said yes, it seems like it's from overseas. Then I knew it. Who else in this whole wide world would send me flowers from overseas but John? I was uber thrilled so I literally ran towards the bus stop to catch the first A1 bus that would bring me back to PGP. Yes, the sand sitting pretty at the lab can wait!!!

I got there first before the flowers did. But when I saw this man coming towards PGP office looking like he's lost and carrying a bouquet of beautiful pink and purple roses, I instantly knew they were for me. =) The man also highlighted that there's even a card with it. I carried my flowers dreamily towards my room, with a silly smile plastered from ear to ear.

This is the first time ever that someone had flowers delivered to me. The flowers are so pretty and they even match my bed!

This is the card that came with it. Hmm, so every 20th of the month is MK and Sandslob Day! =)

The first time MK gave me flowers was after he went hiking around the canyon. He personally handpicked these lovelies, and he said some of them were very difficult to get because he had to climb some rocks just to get them. SO SWEET RIGHT...*sigh*

This was taken when I was at the Grand Canyon still.

Of course it cannot be helped that I take photos with my flowers.

I'm posing against the wall beside my bed, where I blu-tacked a photo of me and MK at the Grand Canyon last summer.

This was already in the afternoon, thus my skin being oily compared to the first pic. Hehe=)

Hmmm. =)

This photo would have been much nicer if not for the outside view from my window.

I took out my printed photos of me and MK and lay them on my bed with the flowers.

I let Mr Oinky join in.

These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive.
These are the moments I'll remember all my life.
I've found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more.

JOHN EVERETT FISHER
I'm keeping you.

Don't Let Love Pass You By

I saw this sign at a gas station somewhere in the US.

"Don't let love pass you by." - Well, I almost did, but I'm glad I didn't.

You popped into my life without warning, at a time when I thought I didn't need anyone like you. I couldn't have been more wrong, as I would later find out. I want you to know, that you debunked my previous shallow notions of love, and I have never been more thankful that I am alive to experience what we have. I am willing to wait, if in the end I know I will have you by my side. And as far as I am concerned, the search is over. I already met you.

My Most Favorite Spot in the World

This is our backyard, my most favorite spot on earth. On some afternoons, we'd sit near the edge of the cliff, often overwhelmed by the majesty of the Grand Canyon that sits before our very eyes. We'd often wonder what's down below, or what's going on along the vast stretch that goes as far as the eyes can see. Or we'd look up, and see white clouds slowly turning into shades of orange and yellow and red, pale shades at first, then, suddenly, brilliant tones. For a few brief moments, the sky would be a canvas and the sun would splash its awesome array of colors with bold strokes. Then the bright orange ball would touch the mountain and within seconds would be gone. Another beautiful sunset, one of the few but memorable ones we've shared. We'd wait for the clouds to turn black to reveal millions of twinkling diamonds in the sky. We'd marvel at them, and savor the moment. But the wind would turn icy cold, and we'd slowly head our way back to the warm comfort of the Grand Canyon Lodge, hand in hand.

I miss you John.

Hands and Hoodoos

When I went to Bryce Canyon National Park with my relatives, I took these shots and sent them to MK.

He also got to go there just recently, and his reply:

Now that I've seen the big picture

I just realized,

God loves me soooooo much.

At this very moment, if it weren't for an unexpected turn of events, perhaps I wouldn't be here writing this post. Perhaps I would be distraught, contemplating about the cruelty of this world, while holding on to the safety rails on the edge of the roof of PGP. Or perhaps I would have jumped already.

But no. God knew this was coming, that this had to happen, and He knew I wouldn't be able to handle it if He didn't do something. Something I totally wouldn't have expected. I mean, I was happy, I was content, I was looking forward to more happy moments like it had been before I left. Why mess my perfect life up? Why make things complicated? No matter how much I resisted, it kept on pushing its way back. I was confused. I felt guilty. Why are you allowing this, Almighty?

Had I known the big picture beforehand, I wouldn't have been so melodramatic. Now all is well. It's perfect.

God gives, God takes away, God gives something better. MK. =)

Because of you

I not only ate my words, I choked on them.
